Hancock Park Residence Hancock Park, Los Angeles

A 1926 Mediterranean Revival house purchased from LACMA. The clients collect and commission art with real seriousness — and they wanted a home that matched that energy. Mysterious. A little cinematic. Rooms you have to sit with.

Two Gregory Crewdson photographs set the mood from the start. One anchors the dining room, one hangs above the fireplace — both doing exactly what Crewdson does best: making the familiar feel slightly wrong, and completely compelling. The interiors were built to hold that kind of weight without competing with it.

The powder room is de Gournay on a gold leaf ground. Warm and excessive in the best way.
